Here are some sample screens from
Surpass Self-Check.

page, click here.

The main menu

Checking items in is as easy as
scanning the barcode. You can choose to allow check-in
without the need for the patron to log-in. This is
particularly useful for elementary schools where entire classes
enter the library together and pass by the circulation desk to
drop off their books. With Surpass Self-Check, they can
simply pass their book under the scanner to check it in before
placing it on the re-shelving cart. The books are then
ready for re-shelving without any additional processing.
And when the students return to the circulation desk at the end
of class to check out their new books, their account is already
clear of the ones they returned thanks to Self-Check.

For check out and account status,
patrons can scan their ID card, or use the touch-screen to enter
their number. Surpass Self-Check allows you to choose
whether or not to require patrons to enter their private PIN to
continue.
During check out, special sounds
alert the library staff if a patron is having a problem with a
transaction or if there are any alerts (such as too many items
checked out). This makes it easy to direct the patron to a
staff member for further help.

The patron menu after log in.

Surpass Self-Check can be configured
to ask the patron to confirm that they wish to check-out the
scanned item. The display includes the book jacket cover (where
available). You can also configure Surpass Self-Check to
skip the confirmation screen and move directly to the next item.

Patrons can view their account
status to view items on loan and fines owed. Patrons can
also use this screen to renew materials if granted permission.
