February 2007:
Encourage reading with NEW Surpass Reading
Program Service (RPS)
Surpass Reading Program Service (RPS) will reduce the time it takes for students
to find materials. When it's easier to find interesting titles, students read
more!
Surpass Reading Program Service (RPS)
automatically updates MARC records with
relevant information for:
Manually entering program data is
time-consuming. RPS’ automated
service updates records while you
care for your patrons. RPS makes
books easier to find, increasing
circulation and maximizing your
reading program investment.
 |
Subscribe to RPS for each
reading program your school
uses. When you want to
update your records, open
Surpass Central. Select RPS from
the materials menu and choose
update. During the automatic
update, MARC records are matched
by title, author and ISBN to
enhance all holdings of each
title. |
 |
With enhanced records in your
database, your patrons can then
limit searches based on reading
level, point value, or quiz
availability. Reading program information teachers
need is available with an easy OPAC
search. When teachers help students
with their selections or guide them
to the OPAC, you strengthen
cooperation between the classroom
and the media center.
Educators
can use Lexile values to find
materials suitable for individuals
as well as specific groups of
students.
