Centriva Server is a server-side module for Surpass.  By installing on your file server, Centriva Server will allow Surpass to operate in client/server mode (optional), which can improve stability and lower the bandwidth required by the system. 

Surpass offers choices in the way you connect to your Surpass database.  This allows you to choose the type of installation that best fits your existing network infrastructure.  Surpass Web Safari installs on your web server, providing catalog access to any station via a web browser.  But to avoid the pitfalls of browser-based circulation, Surpass Central installs to your file server instead.  It may be accessed in a variety of ways:

• Client/Server: using Centriva Server
• Thin Client: using Windows Terminal Server or Citrix
• Direct Connection: simply opening Surpass programs and database files via a LAN connection

Centriva server is a robust n-tier database server.  It's both inexpensive and uses far fewer server resources than bulky generic database servers like SQL and Oracle.  Best of all, Centriva Server does not require any special technician expertise for installation or maintenance, thus reducing the workload on your technical staff.
