System Requirements for Surpass Centriva

Library Circulation & Administration Workstations

• 500 MHz or faster processor (1.2 GHz recommended)
• 200 MB free hard drive space
• 256 MB RAM (512 recommended)
• Windows 2000/XP/Vista
• Connection to the file server with the Surpass database or a thin-client login (Windows Terminal Server or Citrix)
• For Copycat: access through ports 210 and 7090 on firewall (or others based on ports used by the z39.50 server hosts of the libraries you choose to connect to for copy cataloging)
• Laser printer for use with Surpass Central for label or card printing.

Catalog Workstations (Web Safari)

• Any computer (Mac, PC Linux, or other) with Internet or intranet access to the Web Safari server
• Any modern web-browser such as Internet Explorer or Netscape

Surpass Web Safari Server and Surpass Centriva Server

Web Safari and Surpass Centriva can be installed to the same or different servers.

• On-site web server (not hosted with a web hosting company)
• Windows 2000/2003 server running IIS or other web server software. 
• Technician capable of getting web server operational (we cannot step an end-user through installation and configuration of a web server)
• Web server should be on same LAN as server with Surpass database files, or it can be the same server as the database.  If separate servers are used, minimum 100 mbps backbone between servers is recommended (connection via Gigabit switch is better)
• Recommended 1 GB or more RAM on server (2GB for more than 20 libraries on single server)
• Recommended 2.0 GHz processor or faster for up to 20 libraries.  Dual-processor and 2 GB RAM recommended for over 20 libraries.
• Full-time, high-speed Internet connection to web server
