Centriva is an integrated suite of applications that provide the ideal centralized automation solution for entire districts and multi-branch libraries.

Benefits of Centralization
As a centralized automation system, Centriva uses a single, centrally located database for all holding and circulation data for all locations.  Centriva will vastly reduce maintenance and support costs while increasing resource availability. Centriva accomplishes this while preserving local function for individual libraries.

Web-enabled or client-based flexibility
Centriva offers several ways to unite your district's libraries.  All installation types offer a 100% web-browser-based patron catalog, Web Safari.

For circulation and cataloging, we offer a variety of installation types.

  1. Mixed Environment
By mixing Web Safari, a pure Web-based patron catalog, with a Windows desktop client for circulation and cataloging, you'll have the most efficient system possible. Surpass circulation and cataloging applications run entirely from the server, requiring NO workstation installation!

A single, easy update to the software on the centralized server means that every circulation and cataloging station instantly runs the new versions.

If you wish to avoid using a desktop program completely, then you can use the Surpass Web Enabler to bring the same functionality and efficiency to circulation and cataloging all through a web browser.  This is described in our web-enabled option below.

  2. Web-enabled
Surpass' web-enabler runs circulation and cataloging through a web browser. Surpass provides a rich user experience by displaying a Windows-like interface and instant screen-refreshes.

Speed and efficiency are essential for circulation and cataloging! Our interfaces surpass the strict limitations of plain HTML web pages that most web-based automation systems use. For example, if you've ever shopped on-line and waited to "update your shopping cart," you've experienced the types of restrictions imposed by pure-HTML systems. Surpass overcomes such system delays by employing common industry standard browser plug-ins like Java and AntiveX.

Web-enabling your Surpass circulation applications is also a great way to provide access to them from home or elsewhere outside the library.

  3. Hosted
Surpass Hosting Service allows you to have all of your library data and applications loaded on our servers.  Your applications for circulation, administration, and catalog run 100% over the Internet.

There's nothing for you to install and nothing for you to maintain.  Simply purchase the Surpass modules you wish to use, then subscribe to our hosting service.  Read more at http://www.SurpassSoftware.com/hosting_service.htm

Centriva technical representatives are available to consult with your technology coordinator/director to determine which solution is favorable for your district.

Powerful Web-PAC
Centriva's web-based catalog, Web Safari, eliminates the need to install catalog software district-wide and provides an intuitive, feature-rich catalog for your patrons with unique features such as patron-written book reviews.  If you choose, Web Safari can provide access to your catalog from home or other locations outside of your library.

Maximum Training and Support
Training and support for Centriva is provided to all users, not just a few district-level personnel.  Your Centriva purchase includes the first year of maintenance and support in the purchase price.  You'll receive the highly acclaimed support services of the Surpass Support Team, where we feature a "no-hold" toll-free support line and a dedicated technician's hotline.

A Tradition of High-quality Software
Centriva is a 5th generation automation solution from Surpass.  This means that we've built Centriva on the core components and technologies that have been refined and enhanced over years of use in real libraries.  We've incorporated hundreds of user suggestions into each generation of Surpass.  Experience the power, yet ease-of-use, of Surpass by exploring this site and requesting a free trial which can be run on a stand-alone computer for up to 60-days.

Centriva includes:

  • Central: circulation, administration, cataloging, reporting
  • Web Safari: web-based patron catalog
  • Shuttle: portable barcode reader functions
  • Copycat: copy cataloging client - free MARC records via z39.50
  • Self-Check: self-service circulation and account inquiry
  • Centriva Server: increased performance at the server

Maximum flexibility and local control are key!
All key areas and settings in Centriva allow you to specify a location so that district-wide consensus is rarely needed.  Set up your circulation rules, settings, reports, and many other areas just the way you want them in your library! Surpass Centriva allows you to make library-specific decisions in key areas...like you're probably already used to.

Whether working with patron, circulation, or material records, Centriva provides a location selector like the one shown below.

Centriva provides local-library choices even beyond the software itself.  Only Surpass lets you choose which add-on modules and enhancement services your library wishes to use.  Other centralized systems require district-wide choices.

Centriva Pricing
