entering program data is time-consuming. RPS’
automated service updates records while you care for
your patrons. RPS makes books easier to find,
increasing circulation and maximizing your reading
program investment.
Surpass RPS offers the convenience

Because Surpass RPS
is built right into Surpass, you
won't have to manually import and export
as required by other update services.
How to
use Surpass RPS

Subscribe
to RPS for each reading program your school uses.
To update, open Surpass
Central. Select RPS from the materials menu and
choose update. During the automatic update, MARC
records are matched by title, author and ISBN to
enhance all holdings of each title.
Students and teachers easily find appropriate books
With
enhanced records in your database, your patrons can
then limit searches based on reading level, point
value, or quiz availability.
Reading
program information teachers need is available with
an easy OPAC search. When teachers help students
with their selections or guide them to the OPAC, you
strengthen cooperation between the classroom and the
media center. Educators
can use Lexile values to find materials suitable for
individuals as well as specific groups of students.

By supplying a list of quizzes you own,
Surpass RPS flags records with a test
available (see below; highlighting
added for emphasis). This helps
distinguish these materials from books
with AR or SRC information provided by
your book jobber but for which you don't
own a quiz.
